Just for a change, I've made a card purely for the sheer enjoyment of it and which isn't predominantly black and/or white. I just wanted to play around with my new butterfly dies and see what I would come up with.
I grabbed my velveteen paper (don't I always) in both the red and purple. Using my Cuttlebug, I die-cut then embossed the three butterflies before adding some dimension by threading a string of mica-coloured beads for each one.
I decided the best colour to highlight these embellishments would be a yellow-green which is the split complementary colour for both purple and red. Luckily, when routing through my papers, I found this matting paper from Anna Griffin. It was the perfect colour and design. All it required was a sentiment (Papertrey Ink) and it was done.
It's a bit vibrant for my usual style but now and again, I like to go for broke with bold colours. Especially after a period of making crafts from neutrals.
Beautiful card - the colours work really well together. The velveteen butterflies are gorgeous! x
