The third and final tag for this week, using my favourite new handmade flower. In fact, I liked it so much, I ended up making three.
The largest flower, the top one, was created by loosely following a tutorial. I tweaked the demoed design a little but for the next ones, I wanted to try and add some extra oomph. Back in my craft room, I put in my own twist to give them more texture. What's more, the flowers can be made with nothing more than a sheet of card plus, optionally, some ink for the edges. Yes I used a punch to create the centres but a button would be equally as good.
The tag is decorated with a dry-brush coat of acrylic paints. I also applied crackle paint to an oval chipboard frame. I stamped 'Le Jardin' and placed it behind. I glued on a wafting, feathery, feather and added something which is new for me as an art material. Gauze. Yup, the stuff you'll find lurking in a first aid kit. It's perfect for giving an ethereal shabby look. It's wispy nature, perfectly complements the feather.
Finally I applied paint to a metal corner embellishment and adhered the flowers. I tied the tag with an off-cut of lace and wool.
It's pale, it's a neutral palette and I'm loving the results. I still have plenty more ideas that I wish to follow, but for now my sketching time has been neglected. I must go and put some focused hours into doodling and drawing in my pad.
Have a wonderful, creative day my friends

Gorgeous tag, Paul. Love the frothy feather. :)
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find the instructions for the fab flowers please?
Isn't it strange how odd numbers of embellies always work so well!! I love these flowers & how 'outside the box' is that gauze from the first aid kit!!!! I think we may have some 'vintage' gauze in ours....it was a wedding gift (?!!? yes I know..an aged Aunt thought every newly wed couple should have a First Aid kit!!)over 25 years ago!! It should be nicely yellowed by now!!! LOL!!
ReplyDeletePaul, I am so inspired after seeing your wonderful tags! Thank you my fellow stamper for posting this wonderful eye candy!
ReplyDeleteI have not been very well over the past many months, and am just now pushing all that aside and doing what I can to stamp again.
I cleaned out an old first aid kit a few nights ago, and almost tossed the gauze! haha Guess who will be stealing your idea!
All the tags are fantastic, and you are a wonderful artist!
Hugs, Pat
I, too, am loving the results! You're right, the neutral palette is so easy on the eyes...and I love that soft, delicate flower behind those beautiful flowers...they look like they are floating on a cloud! Sweet paper gorgeousness!
ReplyDeleteThese three are just perfect together ... and you know how I love a good neutral!
