I Was Wrong

Well my prediction for the Play Date Cafe was wrong lol. They didn't opt for a red, white and blue combo. In fact, none of the colour inspiration sites I visited this week used those three colours. Teaches me to try and be clever haha.

So instead, we were given an inspired choice which incorporated the vivid contrast of red and green balanced out with a cool neutral grey.

It's a bit of a hotchpotch of techniques and materials layered together. I dyed a strip of Rayon ribbon, then spiralled it around a punched out circle of card. To this I added bakers twine, a button and a pearl. I then took a needle and thread to a strip of lace to create a background layer for the ribbon flower. I threaded two pins with beads and stuck those through before attaching the whole thing to a circular nestie diecut.

I embossed a piece of grey card and border punched the green paper before adding it to the sides. Finally I adhered an Anna Griffin sentiment and a grungeboard heart coated in Stickles.

Hope the wedding has made you feel all loved up today. Whatever your plans, have fun. Px

Well, it doesn't look very hotch-potch-y to me! Elegant and soft, I'd say. :)

Love that flower Paul, it looks like it was crocheted! Awesome job with the colors, even if your crystal ball was a bit cloudy...:)
This is a card that I would definitely be proud of!

I am drooling over that embossing folder, Paul! Do tell me who made it. ANd, I must say, I was thinking of you the last couple of days, wondering what your reaction would be to our non-British color scheme for our challenge this week! Thanks for playing at The Cafe with us. :)
