I'm not very up to speed when it comes to Birthstones. I have my date of birth committed to memory (it's fairly easy though) but I think I'm doing well if I remember how old I am. I'm a Virgo and I'm an Earth sign. And for those who know about such things, I'm apparently very typical. However, I didn't know until taking this week's Shabby Tea Room challenge, that I'm also a Sapphire.
The idea is to use your birthstone as inspiration in your creative project. So I looked to see which of my papers contained blue and luckily a recent purchase of Authentique's Journey collection fit the bill perfectly. Especially as one of the designs resembled precious stones.
The design of the card comes yet again from the wonderful weekly sketch challenge offered up by Mojo Monday. And of course, as has been of habit recently, the shabby chic flower embellishment is handmade (I love making these in pale cream colours).

This card is gorgeous and Happy Birthday too!!
Hi Paul, just go find out about your Chinese zodiac sign as well and you will also end up being an element and an animal! Your card is fabulous.

Your flowers are so pretty ... I wouldn't have associated such a strong blue with you, so that's really interesting! You could run a whole online class on flower-making ...
Another fab card, Paul - I'm loving your vintage shabby style. Hope you had a lovely birthday xx
BE-A-UTIFUL take on the Mojo sketch, Paul! Fabulous vintage feel with awesome distressing and wonderfully charming home made flower! I feel a tutorial coming on... :)
Sapphire is an absolutely regal color, and you've totally done your birthstone justice with this card! You've arranged the colors and patterns perfectly. I have those Authentique papers too...and now I have divine inspiration.
Gorgeous card! I so love that paper, I've made a lot of cards with it. Have a nice weekend!
What a pretty card!! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely creation with the Shabby Tea Room this week!
