I'm Blue Da Ba Dee

Anyone remember that German dance track by Eiffel 65 from way back when? Well it's darned catchy when you're making an all blue card.

This is my entry for this weeks Play Date Cafe Challenge. Theresa chose a beautiful trio of three blues for us to have fun with. Monochrome palettes create some of the most beautiful designs but they are often overlooked in colour combo challenges which is a pity. So thank goodness for Theresa!

It's all about contrast and textures when working with a single colour so I've matched a plain with a dot-embossed and a linen-textured card. I've then alternated dark and light colours when layering. The poofy flower idea came from a youtube video by the talented designer/cardmaker Dawn McVey which you can see here. I used the same cardstock as that used in the card itself which was quite thick. It required a lot of creasing and crumpling before attaching together. I added my own take on it by sponging over perfect medium and dusting on some perfect pearls to give the flower some sheen.

oo lovely! Gorgeous flower - clever way of bringing all the different shades of blue together. Of course, now I'm going to spend the rest of the day singing 'Blue Da Ba Dee' LOL! x
