Invited To Play

I'm early with my Play Date Challenge this week. The benefits of a clean, graphic style is that sometimes an effective card only takes a few minutes (and other times, if the mojo has beggered off, it can take several frustrating hours).

The colours, when I saw them this morning were, to put it politely, not quite my cup of tea. Pink and yellow. A wonderful combination, which is fresh, light and giving a soft tone but I prefer a rich, full-on palette by choice.

I dragged out the paper scraps box and dug around for a selection of suitable candidates. I also pulled out my Papermania Chatsworth stamps and Versamagic chalk inks. I used my Blossom shaped nesties die and a Martha Stewart punch to cut out the shapes and there you have it.

I tried using a pink background for the card but it didn't pop Neither did yellow. So I have stayed with white. The lighter palette of colours stands out better on white and gives a more pleasing contrast.

I love this, Paul. I've always loved those clean, fresh colours that Versamagic do and they're so lovely to work with. The whole thing is just fresh and Spring like, even if you didn't really enjoy the colours. You were right to use white, too - looks good :)
