I love the Play Date Challenge. Even more so when they occasionally give us a choice of colours to create with. Julie presented us with a photograph containing all sorts of decorative ceramics sitting on shelving. There were pinks, blues, greens and yellows, but I went for the grey in the background, the blue from the top of the butter dish and the chocolate brown from inside the bottom right salt pig.
As for the card, you know I get goose pimples if I can make the design, clean and graphic. And this one certainly makes me tingle when I look at it. It's partly inspired by Lindsay Mason who I toddled off to see demoing this morning at CJ Cardcrafts. It's only ten minutes walk away and more than worth it in this muggy weather. Though known for an inkier, grungier style, Lindsay was showing us examples of some gorgeous cards that blended the arty with the graphic. Paula Pascual has been doing the same on her blog too recently. Very inspiring.
Anyway, Lindsay was using this Martha Stewart butterfly punch and I think that it filtered through as I was sat at my crafting desk and saw it staring back at me. I also used a technique I haven't done in many a moon. I stamped with versamark ink to leave a watermark image. Normally, I use it as an adhesion for embossing with and completely neglect its watermarking properties. Until today that is.
The sentiment is Butterfly Kisses from the Angel Greetings set. The watermarked image is Inkadinkado from the Organic Fabric Flourish pack.

Great colour choices - they work really well together! Love the stamp you've used for the watermark x
What a pretty card!!
This is fabulous, Paul! Love the colors and the watermark effect is just stunning! Thanks for playing along with the Play Date Cafe!!
I LOVE how you really zeroed in on colors that grabbed your attention. That blue on the butter dish really stood out to me as well (my shade was a bit 'teal-ly', though)
This is a really wonderful take on a wide open challenge x
