Concertina Flower

Having watched Kirsty's wonderful video on making flowers a few days ago (and by the way, you must watch these live when she does them, they are the best craft shows I've seen. Really informal, great fun and it's interactive - honestly I could rave and rave on & on about them - and she isn't paying me to say so either), I knew I wanted to try out this concertina technique which she says was shown to her by Shimelle Laine. The only difference in the one I've made is that I have reduced the size down so I could make one suitable for a card.

I took a strip of patterned card 12" long by 50mm width. I used my Martha Stewart scoring board and scored a line every three notches (approx 10mm). I then cut the strip into 4 equal lengths. I squished each strip into a fan then adhered all 4 fan shapes into the circle.

I cut out a pink scalloped circle using a Spellbinders die, for it to sit on and attached the ribbon (I cut 4 small lengths, folded them over and tucked them under the flower). The border strip at the bottom was created with a Martha Stewart punch. The Happy Birthday sentiment was from a stamp set by Papertrey Ink.
