Blowing Dust off My Punches

I was looking at my punches the other day and realising that there were some there that I've hardly used. Like my daisy shaped one. The thing is, flower punches look dull and uninspiring when I see the flat paper shapes they create. It's only when they are layered and curled that they come to life and look like a crafty embellishment. Sometimes, I forget how the flat shapes can be so wonderfully transformed.

So I grabbed the daisy punch and started chomping through scraps of my cream coloured paper. I was just playing, seeing what happens. I had intended to throw these examples away and make them properly in coloured papers. However, I liked the softness of the neutral petals and decided they were perfect for use rather than to be trashed.

Therefore, using this week's Card Patterns sketch and opting for a strawberries and cream palette for my colour scheme, I put together this Birthday card. And the next time I'm sat at my crafting worktop, I'm going to use my larger daisy punch to discover what can be created.

Hi there, I know what you mean about punches. I have loads that rarely see the light of day anymore! They seem to be making a bit of a comeback though I look at some of mine and wonder why I bought them in the first place. I like your card, the colours are great.

Fab card! The flowers look beautiful, framed by the scalloped circles. Lovely colour choice too x

Who'd have guessed the humble punch could deliver such a ... well, punch! Very effective layered like this. Don't know when I last punched anything - perhaps I'll give it a go.:)
