A Romantic Vintage Cafe

Over at The Play Date Cafe this week, we are treated to a trio of perfect vintage hues. With dusty shades of red, pink and yellow-gold, it's also my favourite scheme, the ever harmonious analogous selection.

And without a sketch to play with, I rediscovered the fun that can be had from pulling together a card from scratch. I wanted to incorporate one of my newly purchased doilies from Poppyscabin, so the rest of the design stemmed from around it. I inked the edges to give it an aged appeal and reduce the harshness of it's whiteness. However, I think next time I may ink over the whole thing, so it becomes more "aged" in look and less "stained".

I also thought I'd try to include a list of the materials I use in my projects, at the bottom of my posts. I personally find it very useful when other kind souls take the time on their blogs to do so (like the uber talented Andrea Ewan - if you have never seen her blog or her creations - pop over there now without delay and just bathe in her beautiful creations) . Especially when they use a patterned paper which has me drooling and saying "I must have!" I know I've tried doing this before and given up because I so often use scraps of which I haven't a clue of whose it is, or what collection it belongs to etc. However I shall do my best.

Patterned Paper: Signature Life (My Mind’s Eye); Baby Pink Gingham (Pebbles inc); Once upon a Springtime (Graphic45)

Cardstock: Cream

Ink: Old Paper Distress Ink (Ranger/Tim Holtz)

Dies: Scalloped Circles, Fleur de Lis Motifs, Lacey Circles, Buckles, Circles (Spellbinders)

Other: Doily (Poppy’s Cabin); Pink Lace, Flowers (Bead Shop); Pearls (Prima); Cottage Floral Embossing Folder (Craft Concepts); Sentiment (own design); Ribbon

You are just a sweetheart Paul...thanks for that wonderful shout-out! One of my stamping idols always lists her material supplies and I thought that was a great way for me to CASE her lovely designs! (And I must say that the companies she plugs get a nice share of my paycheck!)
This card is over the top gorgeous...That trio of paper roses is a delightful accent! I love the doily and will be checking out Poppy's cabin...and sending her a portion of my paycheck as well!
I know I've said this before, but your cards just keep getting better and better...wonderful touches of elegance and class! Keep it up my friend, I've just signed on to receive e-mail updates and will be looking forward to more vintage fabulosity from you in my inbox! ;)

Wow, soft vintage is really your thing at the moment - along with the gentler header.:) Is that a (dare I whisper it) feminine side peeking out?
