It's Your Day with Handmade Flowers

A combination of two challenges again. The design comes from this week's Card Patterns sketch. The inspiration has come from The Shabby Tea Room which was to use the colours pink, peach, green and neutrals as well as to incorporate handmade flowers.

The papers I used are from Prima's Botanical collection and My Mind's Eye Blush. The felt leaves are cut from a decorative trim I bought from a local haberdashery. The lace frill is from a pack by Kaisercraft, which I coloured using Ranger's Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

The two smaller roses were made using a quilled flower technique. There are numerous youtube videos out there showing how to make these (here's one example). I made mine using a scrap of white cross stitch fabric which was dabbed with a foam sponge that had been loaded up with tattered rose ink.

The main flower is loosely based on a tutorial by The Funkie Junkie. For mine, I used linen and netting. I cut three linen and two netting shapes from the medium flower on the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die and one small flower in linen. I scrunched them up as per the tutorial, then I stacked them with linen on the bottom, followed by netting, linen, netting, linen. I finished off with the small linen flower. I held them together between thumb and finger and used needle and thread to sew on a button and through all the layers. The result, a tattered, shabby chic flower, in minutes.

You know Paul, you are a dab hand at making flowers. I could spend a full day with you and still not exhaust your repertoire.
Lovely card, green and pink compliment one another so well as is evident in this artwork you have produced. Hugs, Neet x

That large flower is just so lovely, I want to reach in and touch it! Hard to believe it only takes minutes (multiply that by 60 for me!).

Simply delicate and gorgeous! I love the soft, pretty feel of a fabric flower and your's embodies those very traits! They look absolutley delish on your card, especially with that lovely doily in the background! I see your creative boundaries being stretched in wonderful new directions, yay for you!
