Taking Two Challenges, New To Me

When it comes to crafting, I seem to make a lot more cards these days. I've discovered that it's a perfect way to unwind at night. I can completely submerse myself in it, knowing that there is nothing else I should be doing (housework, work, socialising etc. has all been done during the daytime).

So it was that I sat in my craft room and made a card with a handmade flower, using inspiration from two challenges which I haven't played before. The design comes from Card Patterns Sketch & the colours and prompts (this week, Wings & Bling) comes from The Friday Mash Up.

What's more, there wasn't an explosion of debris left behind on my desk once I made it. Ordinarily, there isn't space on my table top after I've made something but this time, I kept the clutter to a minimum. It's a one-off believe me. When I next have the urge to be creative, I can guarantee there'll be mess. Px

Supplies:

Patterned Paper: Journey (Authentique)

Cardstock: Purple, Smoky Pink

Dies: Butterflies Two (Spellbinders)

Punch: Birch Leaf Punch (McGill), Dotted Scallop Edger (EK Tools)

Other: Lace, Filigree Corner (Funkie Junkie), Button, Fabric strip, Pearls (Prima)

Very elegant Paul. Is the flower one of your handmade ones?

Yes indeed - an easy frayed fabric flower - takes a mere few minutes to make from scraps. Px

Welcome to the Friday Mashup Paul. I love that flower you made it's gorgeous. Great take on the two challenges you balanced everything well. Your little butterfly with pearls is too cute. I'm the same way when I stamp, my desk starts out clean and when I'm done looks like a hurricane blew in. Thanks for joining us this week at The Friday Mashup!

Your card is gorgeous Paul, and that flower is incredible! The deep maroon color, velvet texture and that vintage center charm is classic...it looks absolutely regal on your card. The bit of lace it lays upon is the perfect contrast! The color combination is wonderfully complimentary...the blues really make the flower stand out. I have a feeling that we're going to be delighted with a few more handmade flowers coming from your way....I can't wait!

Re the mini quiz... trust you to think of food.... cheese ... nah! no way! I'm going to add a closer pic just for those visually challenged crafters who cannot even spot the penguin!!
Your card is stunning and very into your current classy style. You certainly have an eye for balance and colour.
