Textures, Flowers & Butterflies

I can't begin to tell you the boost to my creative mojo that producing tags has given me recently. It's as if I've managed to drip a little oil onto an untapped, rusty part of me and suddenly there's a rush of ideas streaming out.

After the confidence lift with my previous tag (and thank you everyone who was kind enough to leave a comment. I truly feel heartened), I set about making a few more which I'll blog over the course of the week.

The first (as with all the others) began with the handmade flower first. I've come across some more techniques and wanted to try them out with my own twist. This one is based on Prima's Fiesta blooms.

Colour wise, I wanted to produce another pale, neutral tag but rather than an allover scheme, I had in mind to accent it with a strong hit of colour. Hence I dug out a sheet of pink card to make the flower.

The background for the tag comes from a covering of texture paste using a bog standard paint brush. The butterflies were stamped onto light cream card and trimmed out with scissors. The leaves were handcut from cream card and run through a crinkler.

I'll be back throughout the week with another couple of handmade flowers and tags.

Have a wonderful, creative day
Paul x

A lovely arrangement of elements and I particularly love the effect of the texture paint and the details that you took it over the three brads. Your tags are so considered yet look so free.

Glorious! That splash of pink color is the perfect accent to the beautiful monochromatic layout of your tag. The pearl flourishes are an elegant touch as well, like two sweet petals fanning out from behind that gorgeous flower. Can't wait to see more!

WOW Stunning tag. I liked how the texture covers the brad, making them visible, but still part of the background...so neat. Comes together so well.

Your pale neutral tag with the splash of pink is absolutely delightful, Paul! The handmade flower is awesome and I love what you did with the texture paste! Glad to see that I am not the only one who is hooked on tags lately!

Paul, Another fab tag! I don't think you should ever purchase a flower ever again - yours are better than anything out there! Love that the bloom is the only "color" on the tag - it makes it really stand out! Your butterflies are just the right touch!
