Telling Objects: Day 28

Today is an everyday object, as in you'll probably see one every day and we use it in our home for an everyday purpose. But you don't normally see one of these being used in quite the same fashion that we do...

It's a cat's eye. Except you won't find this one lurking beneath tarmac in the centre of a road. Instead  you'll find it as a very heavy, doorstop which has a wicked way of stubbing toes when you're walking about in the dark (ironically).

Agreed, it's not what the average household has lying around the place, ready to prop open doors but that's what comes from living with an engineer. But then, I like having it around. It's different. it's quirky and it's not easy to come by. You can't buy one at the local supermarket. You can't even steal them. Well, not with ease. And in a home as eclectically festooned as ours, it fits right in.

Until tomorrow

I'm guessing there is a history to the origin of this and its journey to your home! Very unique and quirky - like its current owner :).

very cool, you know the joke that goes something like if the guy who invented the cats eye saw the cat from behind he would have invented the pencil sharpener??
ok I cant tell a joke to save my life but that is a cool thing to have about the place.

So how did you get it? I know Percy Shaw came from Halifax - a clever man who ended up quite eccentric.

Hugs, Neet xx
