A Quick Hello

Hello again! Lovely to see you as always.

I've a quick card to share today. More of a playing around kind of affair than for any real need to make.

Believe me, the colours reproduced here don't do it justice. The background is a lovely rich colour, more a burgundy wine and the "hello" is bubblegum pink, not white as it appears here.

However, you still get the idea that this is a punchy design that'll leap out at you. And it's really just to try a technique of cutting out shapes with dies and filling them in again. Looks easy but when I first cut out the "hello" section, I forgot to keep track of where all the tiny shapes that fit back in the loops of the Ls, O & E were. Had to do it again and this time not sweep them away with the side of my hand. And I still needed to hunt round my craft table for some of the pieces.

If you're wondering how everything stays in place, There's a piece of paper attached to the inside of the card. I sprayed it first with adhesive, stuck it inside and then placed the label and word pieces.

Love how it turned out. It presses all my graphic design buttons. The only aspect I'd want to tinker with is the sentiment. If I had a Cricut/Silhouette machine, I'd create cut out words that were more to my taste. More irreverent and cheeky. For the time being, I'll use the dies that are out there. So "hello" and "thanks" etc will have to do - for now lol.

Cheers for dropping by

If ever there was a reason to get a cricut/silhouette, irreverent sentiments is it! I don't have one, and I don't have the imagination to come up with creative sentiments, but I'd love to see what you would do. :-) This card is great, with it's attention-grabbing sentiment front and centre.

Hey! I like irreverent and cheeky AND I have a Cricut! Thanks for the inspiration, Paul! ;-) I also very much like this card, just as it is. I also think its good to have a stash of cards at the ready...just in case! ;-)

I am surprised you don't have one, Paul, because I think you'd make great use of it ... It would just suit your spare and lean and elegant style. A Christmas pressie?

Yes, get one of those machines and write your own sentiments. Great idea. Love the mental image of you scrambling around on the floor trying to find bits of letters!
