Inspired Patterns - Day Two

Blimey, it's all go. Having decided to commit myself to 31 days of creating patterns, I find myself currently and frantically bashing away at the computer all day. Between this and my work (all computer based) I'm going square-eyed.

Never mind. Today I took a photo of an old and frankly hideous chair which sits in our bathroom. It has "sentimental" value for Nick, so it stays. Normally, I rest my radio on it when I take a bath, so it does have it's uses. It also has a rather lovely pattern on the seating area.

Which I used to create...

which was frankly harder than I at first imagined. There may be a quick and elegant way to create this criss cross pattern but that's not the route I went. Nope, I went the long and cumbersome way round.

I then added some pink and brown to the mix

and printed out to make a card

If I had more time, I'd choose lighter colours. Oh and perhaps a hundred other niggling problems with it. One of the extra skills I'm learning on the second day is that I've only got time to go with my first ideas, possibly my second. I don't have the luxury of tweaking it until it's perfect. Yup, I'm going to have to face up to my perfectionist demon again. My particular favoured method of procrastinating on creative projects. We all have them and that's mine.

If you've stuck with me so far, thank you for popping by. Hopefully see you tomorrow. With what, I haven't a clue just yet :)

Hi Paul, it looks so textured, I just wanted to run my finger down the ribbing, if you know what I mean! Keep up the great work, look forward to tomorrow's. Take care.

Another wonderful design, though I think you are a little uncharitable about that lovely chair! There's a nice piece of carved design on the back too :). I know what you mean about not getting on with something because it's not perfect ... That demon pops in over here too.

Great design again - and this time it looks three dimensional. Poor Nick - I think his chair is lovely - might have to give the woodwork a coat of paint but don't tell him I said that.
Hugs, Neet xx
ps can just hear you say"sacrilege"

Glad you joined 31 days. This former art teacher has been in a dry spell for years. Enjoying your posts thus far and the casual banter about your patterns. Just shared you with a black/white artist friend in Argentina as well. Keep up the inspiring work.

Nick's chair has no sentimental value to me, but I say it is absolutely beautiful and would love to have it!! That said, you have created something lovely from something you don't especially like. How cool is that? That definitely spells success! Hugs, Kay
