Good morning. I trust you've had a very pleasant weekend. You won't be surprised to learn that I managed to not only go to a craft class (though I didn't craft) but that I ended up at more food fairs. Not only did I end up buying the most sumptuous macarons made by a UK company that I've ever tasted, but that I ended the weekend perfectly cooking and eating a crocodile steak. I can tick that off my exotic meats list now.
Anyway, when I wasn't tucking into dressed crab or banana and orange brownies, I took some time to make a card for this week's CAS(e) this Sketch Challenge.
Here's the sketch:
And here's my take on it:
It started life as an idea in my head that I wanted to make triangular paper straws and stick them on a card to see the effect. Turns out, it's rather like a time consuming way to make corrugated card. However, it does allow you to use whatever colour you wish, in my case, white. I wanted to go down the white on white route but it looked so much better backed onto a darker mat.
The rest was pretty standard fare, a couple of dies and a stamped sentiment and there you have it, a clean, graphic styled card.
Thanks for popping by.
Materials Used:
- Card: White and Dark Blue
- Spellbinders Fantastic Flourish One Die
- WS9 Banners Die
- Sentiment Stamp Unknown

Another lovely clean and stylish card. I know what you mean when you said that it turned out to be a way of getting the same effect as if you'd use corrugated card. I've had so many ideas that, when I've spent ages putting them into practice, turned out like something I could have done much more simply - but, as you said, it allowed you to use white and, in fairness, it does look different to normal corrugations. I like it anyway!
Not sure of the crocodile steak....bet it had a tough rind! Lindsay xxx
Really lovely. The time spent created a beautiful effect. Crocodile steak...did it taste like chicken? ;)
I do like that corrugated effect with the teal blue - lovely. You probably know what I'd say about the crocodile steak but the macaroons sound lovely!
All that talk of food leads me to say this is one delicious card, Paul!!
Gorgeous card Paul. Love the flower design over corrugated card. Very striking.
Gorgeous card - your paper folding looks amazing! hugs xx
Wow! You have outdone yourself yet again. This is just totally stunning! Love the way it all comes together.
