Falling in love with Washi

I'm feeling much more relaxed now that I have time to create and play. Even my arty side is being pampered on Monday evenings at night school. I have achieved balance and that makes me happy.

Which all means I could look around for a challenge to join in with again and this week, there's a spectacular design over at CAS(E) this Sketch.

Just love the criss-crossing of patterns.

I have also gone and prepared myself a little homemade kit of crafty items. Inspiration struck as I was listening to the Paperclipping Roundtable a few weeks ago. They were chatting away about buying kits, the pros and the cons. And some of the members mentioned they put together their own kits for themselves.

Such a great idea! I looked at my stash, especially stuff which I've bought and have completely forgot about. So I've bundled a few items into a box with the determination to use them this month.

Included in this collection are two rolls of Washi Tape. A black and a grey.

It was a no brainer to incorporate both these rolls into my card. And you know what? Now I get it! Now I understand why people love Washi tape. I've gone and fallen head over heels with them.

I started with laying down the black tape first. Then I added the grey. Then out came my knife with a wickedly sharp blade and I carefully trimmed where the grey met the black.

I stamped a sentiment with Archival black, added foam tape to the back and attached to black card.

Have to say, even if I am blowing my own trumpet here, that I love this card. It ranks as one of my top favourites of all the ones I've made this year.

Thank you once again for taking the time to drop by. Have yourself a truly decadent weekend.

This IS very beautiful. IT certainly helps me think differently about this 20+ rolls of Washi tape I keep buying and hoarding.

Love the card, Paul! I have amassed quite a collection of washi tape and find I only use it to "ground" stamped human (like) images! You have inspired me to use it in something else!! I had to laugh at your comment about finding things you forgot you have. Somedays, when I am looking for something, I feel almost like I am shopping!

Yep, simply it works. I had never heard of washi tape before. Glad to hear you've found balance. That's hard to find.
