The Joys of Cartography

Before I went away, I took delivery of a very special pad of Prima paper, The Cartographer Collection. It's special for me as it was designed by my lovely friend Frank Garcia, who is one of the sweetest guys I've been lucky enough to know. Not only that, he is uber talented and has an incredibly creative style. If you've never seen his work, stop reading right now and hop over to his blog to drool over his dimensional art pages.

The papers are too delicious to cut into, all subtle blacks, greys, browns and creams - heaven -  but I wanted to see if I could use his vintage style in a more contemporary form. Blend his arty designs with my bold, graphic style.

I've made a couple of cards so far and I'm itching to have a go making a few more when time allows

As you can see, it's not as clean as I've been of recent and certainly not as arty as Frank. I'm hoping there's a hybrid feel in there. I'm tentatively feeling my way through creating something that incorporates the best of both our worlds.

And the only way to do that, is to keep making more :)

That's a nice collection, isn't it? Neutral but with texture ... It certainly pops against the pink!

Two fabulous but very different cards. I like the bright pink w/the triangle design, kind of connected, like a compact. The second graph w/lines and triangle designs looks like a chalkboard design to me and I adore it. :) Good work.
