Kissing Butterflies

KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. That's how I'd describe my card for this week's Colour Create Challenge. Only two colours, green and blue with the optional extra of using a butterfly in the design.

I love the intricate detail of this die-cut butterfly from Marianne Design. When I first bought the die and used it however, it was next to useless and it nearly ended up in the bin. It wouldn't cut card nor paper no matter how thin it was. But before I started down the line of returning it to where I bought it, I did a google search.

Apparently, if you have a problem like this with a die, you use foam pads underneath it. It's unmounted stamps all over again lol. I hadn't realised back then that unmounted rubber benefitted from foam support and the same goes for dies. And as you can see, the foam pads have worked and the result is a wonderful lace-winged butterfly. You have to patiently pop all the pieces out but it's really worth it.

And the border effect is a punch from EK Success called Scrolls & Dots and has to be my favourite all time border design. I could happily over use it on every card and layout I produce.

Fab colours - very striking! I agree with you on the border punch - I ordered mine from America cos I didn't think it was available here, then wouldn't you know it, two weeks later it appeared in our shops! x

Not surprised that punch is your favourite - it is absolutely gorgeous. Love your card and the butterfly is beautiful too.
