The resulting page was unexpected. It looks far more feminine than my usual style and has a lot more going on in it. It's mostly down to the patterned background paper. Though I've kept my style clean and simple, the flourishes fill in the normally blank spaces.
The page is about my father's mother and the gruesome fact of her having lost part of finger in an industrial accident. Mind you, it has just suddenly reminded me that a friend of my father's employed his son to work for him and on day one their son lost two fingers to a power saw. Makes me cringe, whilst also making me grateful that nothing that severe has ever happened to me.

That flowered paper works really well and draws the eye perfectly to the photo and story (eeek!). Like the 'frame' effect, echoing the curves of the photo ...
Love the layout, lovely colour scheme and captivating story ( tho' a tad gruesome). Strangely enough my regular postman knocked with a delivery this am and I noticed HIS finger was just like Grandma's!! I'll be watching out for more now......

A smashing scap book page Paul
Lovely, pretty Lo, to go with a not so pretty story - although your Grandma doesn't seem too bothered! I like the way you've changed the 'focus' of the story to colour. x
Love your layout and the photo is great and perfect for the colours and layout you have used.
The story of the fingers made me get the heeby jeebies but very interesting all the same!
