Some Weeks Fly By

Feels like only yesterday that I was blogging about the last Play Date Cafe challenge. My head is busy with all sorts of projects I have on the go that the last seven days have been a blur. Don't get me wrong, I love being busy. I would just like to take a breather now and again to enjoy it.

Anyway, this week has seen the seasonal return of red, green and white to help us crafters make Christmas cards. And I'm afraid I can't take any creative credit for the card I produced. It wasn't intended to be but it's almost a straight lift of a design I saw by the very talented Arielle here.

What I originally planned was to lift the idea of buttons below a piece of card with die cut images in it. But then I noticed I'd done it in threes. We've both used red and green buttons. I embossed the card. It's almost identical. And I tell you, it's not as easy as it looks trying to find buttons that fit together perfectly within the shapes. Takes a fair bit of fiddling about. Fortunately I used a glue which didn't set immediately. I had a bit of wiggle room, to alter the buttons' positions as necessary.

It all worked out in the end and Arielle's cards are of such a high standard, I'm sure she wouldn't mind if a mere pup like me attempted an inspired copy.

Paul, you are really TOO KIND! My creative time is from when the kiddies go to bed and about midnight! I TRY TO CRAM AS MUCH IN AS I CAN!!! I like to think my projects are successes, but I know they can't all be! The proof is in my early blog posts - lol!

I think your card is awesome... I love how you did the buttons! I think this type of card REQUIRES the top panel to be embossed! That embossing folder is cool, you'll have to tell me who makes it. Oh, and is that a die? Do tell...

I'm honored that you think my dabbling is CASEworthy! Keep up the exquisite work my friend!

A little birdie told me that there was some fussin' goin' on about a certain color challenge's choice of colors! haha
What would we do without you, my friend?!
Also heard that you are quite the handsome man that we all assumed, so at least I am accurate on one front!
Great entry for this week...so glad you are still there for us : )

Hi Paul
I think we are all here to inspire each other!
It is a lovely card, based on simple lines and it is really effective.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Although similar, your card is YOUR card, with those painstaking button conforming cutouts and fabulous embossed panel. Great job...you ROCK! Glad to see you in the Cafe again, I love to read your 'soap box' posts!

I loved Arielle's card too, but yours is unique and equally fabulous! The buttons behind the die cut windows are perfectly placed, and I love the embossing and deckled edges!
