Normal Service Resumes

After the festive break, it usually takes me a few days to find my flow again (this is a friend's word of the year & it's an excellent choice). It's beginning to return and though I've been quite the busy bee over the last few days, I took time out to make a card for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge.

It's an interesting one too. Grass green with silver and gold. Usually I can picture in my mind's eye how the colours could be combined but I had difficulty seeing it this time around. So it came as a very pleasant surprise to see how well they blend.

I started out by making the paper fans. I concertinaed strips of silvery grey paper which I'd gold embossed a stamp design onto. Then I stapled the bottom of the fans together using Tim Holtz's tiny attacher tool which is a must have in any craft room. To finish them off, I wrapped gold ribbon around the handles.

I took some gold thread and hand sewed it around a square of green card before attaching it to silver cardstock with 3D foam. The fans, I applied with sticky glue dots. They really are the bees' knees when it comes to attaching 3D embellishments.

And there you have it. At least it kept me away from the computer screen for a short while lol.

Gorgeous card Paul! I love the fans you've made, very creative! I agree.. The tiny attacher IS a fab tool, I got one for Christmas. It's not just a stapler as my other half keeps telling me! He just doesn't get it lol

Paul, I really must check out this Tim Holtz attacher tool you mention. Never heard of it, but you've piqued my interest!

Your fans are so artistic, and glad you found your 'flow' again. Thanks for playing at The Cafe with us!

What a novel card Paul. A bit different to the rosettes you see on so many blogs now.
