Do Not Adjust Your Screen

Yes, I know, it's not the usual scrapbook layout you're used to seeing from me is it? But it's for a reason. There's a new blog on the block called Scrapbooking By Men and it's for the challenge they have set. To create a vintage-styled craft project. And judging by the high quality of examples presented by the Design Team, I had to try and up my game substantially.

I've seen and admired plenty of vintage-styled layouts recently and I've been playing around with vintage cards, so I thought I'd have a go at translating it to scrapbooking. Flowers dominate this style and so there are plenty of them here as you can see. No your eyes are not deceiving you. And except for the orange prima flower, all the blooms I've made from scratch. Mostly from patterned paper and punches, but with one in fabric and one from lace trim. Normally, there isn't a single embellishment to be seen on my layouts. Think I've made up for it here though.

Also this Easter holiday, I've had my head buried into a trio of books all about a crime writer and his pet cat, Norton. From the covers, you'd expect these to be cutesy but they're not. They are funny, honest and totally absorbing. Like millions before me, I have fallen for Norton. The third book was a difficult read, not only because I did so through sodden eyes for most of it but because it deals with loss. And it wasn't because it was mawkishly sentimental. It purposely is full of humour as the tale unfolds in solid plain facts and takes you on its inevitable journey.

It's been a long time since any book has so affected me and these three have had me feeling every emotion possible. After book two, I was tempted to go and live in France for a year. After book one, I was even tempted to go find a Scottish Fold to bring home as a companion for our feline friend. So now, for the rest of the day, I plan to dream of foreign lands, sunny beaches and lifelong adventures. Have a good Easter everyone. Px

I must admit, I thought I'd followed the wrong link when all those flowers appeared :D

It's a wonderful page, and I'm now off to have a look at Norton - thanks for the tip :)

Will go and check out the DT's pages later but in the meantime I am looking at yours. Yes, not your usual style but then I always think someone of your calibre can adapt to any style and you certainly have managed Victorian with this one. It reminds me of the Victorian cards I have seen in the past and I think it fits the bill perfectly.
Hugs, Neet x

Well, who'd have thought it! Mind you, I know you can do flowers really well because you taught me how to make a load. :) But it's not often we see them blooming and flourishing on your pages. Glorious!
