Time To Play at The Cafe

Busy, busy, busy week with non-craft related, work styled schedules and deadlines. However, I have managed to fit in one card so that I don't lose my mojo. I am in awe of bloggers who can post three, four times a week, some of them daily. I'd need a PA before I could manage that.

Anyway, no sketch this week, so I hoofed it, design-wise. I did join in a colour challenge care of The Play Date Cafe. Dark Blue & Turquoise snuggle up together on the colour wheel like buxom buddies and are joined by a fudgey neutral who can be paired off with almost anyone and look handsome.

You can't see it in the card, but I used distress crackle paint on the chipboard frame which offers up a wonderfully subtle texture. The main focal flower is made using one of Spellbinders newest dies, Spiral Blossom One. And the papers are from My Mind's Eye, Lost & Found range. The smaller flowers are rolled up roses made from a scalloped circle punch out.

Right, back to work, I've put it off long enough. See if I can get my head around creating a Damask design on Illustrator without developing a headache or throwing the computer out of the window lol. Px

Look at you! I see that your mojo has gotten a hold of you despite other commitments! (Sometimes it's fun to play hooky.) This card is a vintage delight! I love the effect of the crackled paint, almost like a well-worn, well-loved piece of furniture! It's a beautiful backdrop for the sweet flowers, in their lovely display of muted color. The bow is simply elegant, especially with the gem center. This card is the perfect mix of elegant/shabby...cheers to you...not many people can pull that off...well. :)
**Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on my blog...I really appreciate the time you take to visit, and to leave such kind words. YOU are a gem!

Beautiful work, Paul. I didn't know what to call the colors either. I think fudgy sounds as good as mustard. I visited your Flickr photos and they are lovely as well.

Gorgeous card Paul! In fact it's one of my new favourites of yours, just so beautiful and elegant. I love the way you've done the frame. I've just bought some crackle, but haven't used it yet, does it take long to dry?
