Leaving Rude Comments

Just a quickie to highlight something I have gathered is doing the rounds. I popped onto my friend Jo's blog only to read that she had been left a comment the other day, criticising her choice of colours in a craft she posted. Then reading down to the list of comments left in response, it seems that she is not alone.

And I too received a similar comment. In my previous post about my concertina book/box, it was suggested I needed to add some colour to it. Like everyone else, I just deleted it. I shrugged it off. Each to their own taste even if I didn't agree with them.

However, having seen now that mine is not an isolated case and that lots of people had a personal comment within the last few days, I'm doing the same as Jo & highlighting it. If one of my readers, who has a blog, has received a similar comment, I'm guessing it is some kind of spam. Delete it & think no more of it. Carry on crafting and making your beautiful works of art :) Pxx

Hi Paul - Alison (CB) got one too. I think we all should give it a mention on our blogs.

Thanks Paul! I wasn't worried to be criticised but I was concerned at the comment's lack of validity and that if their sites were opened we might all get corrupted in some way.
Love Jo x

Paul, I decided a long time ago that it is more important to create what YOU love than to try to please other people. You are right - to each his own. If someone doesn't like what they see they can move along. I have so many competition entries that are "losers" - but not to me. Some of them I've even framed and hung in my craft room. Your work is beautiful. You don't need strangers to reaffirm a creative expression of yourself. Forget the people that find it necessary to criticize and spread their unhappiness!

I clicked on the link and it took me to a Pakistani shop. There didn't appear to be any virus attached I just think its some very unpleasant individual who gets a kick out of trying to p--- people off. Well he/she failed. I also think its odd that we all seem to be linked in some way so I suspect they've googled onto one of our blogs and then looked at our sidebars to see who we follow. If said individual is reading this then let it be known that crafters are made of stern stuff and won't be affected by petty minded little people. Rant over, off to copy this to my blog for my followers to see, x

Hi Paul.... i often get comments from people who dont follow my blog critising what i do... because of the nature of some of my work i take it in my stride and shrug it off.... followers of my blog know what i do and expect it... it is such a shame that some folk critise other peoples art in an unfair and unkind manner.

I had one too; out of curiosity I highlighted the name of the person who sent it and saw their list of blogs was all definately company blogs so just moved to spam and deleted, But that is only about the third piece of spam I've ever received since blogging.

My grandma always told me if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all!

I think that the web gives some people something to hide behind, they aren't saying nasty things to anyone in person so there are no repercussions.

Keep on doing what you love, even if not everyone loves it too. You can't please everyone!

Cheers,

Yeah, you have to watch the comments on blogger I've found. Some of them appear to be genuine, but you can kinda tell when they are spam. I put them in the spam box if in doubt.
