On Your Special Day

Well it's been a long, long, long time since I actually made a papercraft project. Designing digital scrapbooks is fun but you know what? Nothing beats actually cutting into paper. Trouble is, when I haven't done it for a while, I fall out of the habit and the longer time goes on, the harder it is to pick it up again.

Anyway, I have a few more new crafty items arrived in the post this week and I'm determined to put them to use. Starting with this quick little card, made just to dust off the creative cobwebs.

I produced this specifically so I could use a new die I have, the Contempo Circle Border from Memory Box. It wasn't quite what I expected, as I had a completely different cutout in my head. However, the lacy border that results is just as good, if not better, than my original thought.

I didn't have a plan in mind when I began this card. I sat with a blank black canvas, pulled out some scraps of paper and put together a scheme of colours I liked. No sketch, no outline, I just thought I'd push paper around until something fell into place that I was happy with.

And I have no idea where I bought the sentiment stamp from but it fit perfectly within the Woodware Chippie frame.

I tried adding extra embellishments but didn't like anything I added. So I thought, stuff it. If I like how it looks, don't add anything else. Maybe it's because I'm feeling rusty. But the bug has bitten so with a few more projects under my belt, I should feel more in the swing of it soon. I may even pre-plan the designs in the future too. Baby steps though. I needed to start that ball rolling first.

Right, off to enjoy a bowl of olives in the garden with a pink gin (without the gin - I know, I know but try it. In my good-boy world, this is a treat).

Enjoy your weekend folks

That's very striking Paul - the circles almost have an industrial feel which is a great contrast to the softer faded flowery effect. Hope you are enjoying the warmth of the evening with your little outddoor appetizer ..

Ooo. I like that new die and gbe bg paper works so well. Blue and brown always look great. Is that one of the papers you designed? Good to see you back in the realms of proper crafting ;-)

A fan of brown with blue my eye was drawn to this card and I do like the band down the side. Not sure what it is (ribbon, punchinella, paper?) but it looks just great.
Hugs, Neet (playing catch up) xx
