Peach & Blue - Hmmmm?

I've been playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge. After raving about them last week, I logged on to see the latest inspirational photo and my heart sunk. This week didn't have a particularly appealing design to pick apart and use.

I know it's all down to taste but this photo...

...really isn't my cup of tea at all. I noticed only after I made my card, that most everyone else who's joined in so far, took the blue and swirls from the design but paired them with white for a far classier effect.

I, instead, tried to push myself to use the peach and pink as the main colours with the accent of blue with swirls. Guess I tried to use the photo too literally.

and this is what I came up with...

and I have to say I'm not wowed by it.

The colours work well together. In fashion yes. I'm just not sure they look great on a card. Would anyone be delighted to receive this? Maybe it's just me.

But I did enjoy the challenge, even if the results were yick.  I like stepping out of my comfort zone, true. It helps keep me motivated and educated but sometimes there's a reason I sometimes stay there.

Anyway, I'm still going to share my attempt with you and take the lesson with me, not to always use all the elements from the proffered challenge photo.

Sorry Paul but I think it's lovely and would be than happy if it popped through my letter box. The flourish is gorgeous and intricate and it's nice that you picked the pink tones rather than just going with the more predictable blue and white.

You did a beautiful job. I see what you mean; the dress reminds me of a diagram of the human circulation system or something. ;?

You were faithful to the brief, and managed to make something classy out of a not very inspiring original. Yours is rather more elegant than the dress, I have to say! I guess the challenge with this colour combo is that it doesn't offer much contrast but I think you have done marvels with it. I think I'd have bunked off till the next one!

Hi Paul, I think you've done a great job. The style is cool and I think it is a colour combo that works well together even though not to everyone's taste. Blue and white would be taking the safe route so bravo on sticking with it. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would love to see it in their post!

I think this is beautiful! I think that your literal interpretation has worked perfectly! I would be delighted to receive this in the mail. :-) The flourishes are gorgeous, as is the whole design.

Well, Paul - I disagree - and I would be delighted to receive this card and I am sure so would others.
If the brief had just shown me the swirls and nothing else I would probably have chosen white just because it was lying around. Your choice of the leah is much more subtle - and definitely better imo.
Hugs, Neet xx

Yick?? Definitely not "yick" in my book! I did check out the other cards, Paul, and would definitely buy yours off the rack before any of the others! There is a softness in your color palette that is missing from all the other (perhaps more formal) cards. Your card definitely appears more "friendly," too!! Don't shortchange your efforts on this project!
