I Can Breathe Again! So I'll Share A Useful Colour Tool

With self imposed blog challenges behind me, I can sit, breathe then cocoon myself in my craft room and play at last. And I'll share with you my latest website discovery. You may have come across it already but hey, there may be someone out there who doesn't know about it.

I lurve colour theory and playing around with every combo under the sun. Bright light, dark, earthy. It's the most satisfying area of design, for me. The crafty challenges I lean towards are those around colour. There are loads of them. More and more are cropping up all the time.

There's a website which is the king of colour inspiration. You wander around Pinterest and it won't be long until you come across The Design Seeds.

This isn't the website I want to talk about though. I can hardly claim this to be a new discovery. I'd be a poor designer if this one had escaped my attention.

Now, The Design Seeds is fabulous for browsing colour combos which are already selected for you, from photographs they've come across. But what if you want to choose your own photograph and select colours from it? What if you wanted to create your own colour challenge for your blog or crop?

Have you heard of Chip It?

You can use any photo you find on the web or even upload your own and Chip It grabs the colours for you.

For instance I found this on Pinterest

I clicked the Chip It button on my Bookmark bar and saved to my page

And now I have a colour palette which I can use to inspire a scrapbook layout or card.

Oh yes and you can use it to colour pattern paper designs too.

Check it out, if you haven't already. It's really easy to use and you never know, it may inspire your next creative project.

Thanks for dropping by

Wow - thank you so much for these links. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to mixing colours so I can see me visiting these sights a fair bit

There used to be something similar, Paul, which I had on my Mac but which then was not compatible with an update of Firefox - so very pleased to have this and will go and check it out - thank-you!
