Third and, I'm Happy To Say, Last Card With Gate Die

In the last couple of posts, I've been attempting to use a die which has up until now, been somewhat neglected in my stash collection. I've had plenty of great ideas from people as to how I could squeeze out a few more card designs from it. Thank you all :) They really do help fire up my creative mojo.

Anyway, last time, I cut out the gate post section of the die in a rainbow of colours. I've now used the gate section on its own.

Each gate shape comes with a slit down the middle so that with a couple of snips, you can have a die shape with gates that open up. By cutting the posts off as well, I ended up with two pieces which I envisaged as corner pieces. Two gates gave me the four corners I needed.

I stamped the sentiment and accompanying ornaments onto blue card and used a Spellbinder labels die to trim out the centre piece.

And I now have another card using what I feel is a tricky die design. As I said before, apart from one very sweet friend, who wants just a gate on a card?

That's the last one I'm going to make for now. I think I've let this die earn its keep. I have plenty of other stamps and dies in my possession to dig out and try the same exercise with. In fact, I know I have stamps which have never seen ink.

I have liked all of your gate cards. It is good to take out a supply and experiment with various ways of using it. You may be surprised but I very much liked the single gate card. To me, a gate can represent occasions such as a beginning, a closure, hope, taking a step w/o knowing what lies ahead, an invitation, etc. Therefore, this card, as is, could be used for many occasions. If you felt the need to add a sentiment to the front, I think a modest sized banner sentiment across it would look nice. Or, as I have done on many a card, just add the sentiment/message on the inside. TFS your creativity and fresh ideas. :)

Like Gabby said, the gate feels symbolic of change. Love how you changed the gate to make it suit your design, not the other way round. Artistic license!

Again, so very clever and inspiring :). I lie your comment about stamps and ink and pleading guilty as charged, m'lud.
