What's Been Cooking

This week I've combined Kirsty's Wednesday Crop with this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge to come up with this layout.

A few posts back, I made a layout depicting how our quince tree was bursting with fruit. Well this is just a small selection of the jars of stuff made from them. We gave a lot of the quinces away to friends and family and virtually anyone who bravely rang our doorbell or entered the house. The ones we kept were converted either into quince jelly (or jam if you prefer) or this favourite concoction of my better half's, Mostarda.

Our cellar is now wall to wall with jars of homemade condiments. Not bad considering how small our kitchen is. Cooking the evening meals was like trying out for the Krypton Factor. Now I read in this morning's Guardian that sloe season has begun. No doubt we'll be descending on our secret sloe bush location and filling up large rucsacs with the berries before turning them into umpteen bottles of Sloe Gin. Anyone fancy a Sloe Comfortable Screw this winter? Thought not.

Terrific post, my friend! Love the story and of course, I love the layout and the ways you used the colors from The Cafe...even in my 'middle age', I have yet to 'can' anything, although jams and preserves would be my first stop!

It's a cocktail KJJC haha. I know it sounds naughty but it's made with Sloe Gin. Quite innocent I assure you :) xx

Stunning, Paul. Beautiful photo and such a clean and fresh page. You do this style so brilliantly! Please count me in for any left-over sloes, since I missed the quinces!

You've been busy! Fab LO - love the cleverly arranged jars, so that the focus is one the one with the green lid, that ties in beautifully with the strip of green paper ;) x
