I love to be set a taxing, creative-muscle stretching, challenge and this week, over at Our Creative Corner, I certainly found it. It's a White Party, set by Kristen, has invited this week's players to come up with something using only white products.
The best way around this, for me, was to look for a couple of different tones of white, as in a pure white and an off-white, so that I could add some contrast between the elements. Other than that, it forces you to add more texture and dimension to help differentiate each layer. As for the design, I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.
I began with an embossing plate for the background and added a decorative punched edge at the bottom. I hid the join with lace and a white velvet ribbon. I don't have any white flowers so created my own using a punch. Same for the leaves.
I stamped a flowery image onto off-white card and heat-embosssed it with white powder. I cut out with an oval nestie and matted onto a scalloped edge. Finally, I used a Martha Stewart punch to cut out two butterfly shapes, stuck one over the other, bent up the wings and added pearls. That just left the tricky part of taking a photograph for the blog.
Now all I need is for someone I know to get married, in order that that I can send them this card. Trouble is, most of my friends already are and those that aren't, well, I don't see wedding bells in the near future for them either. Maybe it's a sign of my age. I used to go to at least three weddings a year. However that particular well has been dry for a long while now. So come on my single friends, pull your fingers out - I have a card going to waste here lol!!!!
