Telling Objects: Day 7

Today is a collection of objects which shows that occasionally I show traits typical for the male of the species. It's an almost obsessive amount of audio CDs.

Ever since I was a teenager, I have fallen asleep listening to comedies from the radio. If I don't have one on in the background, I cannot drop off. When I go on holiday or spend a weekend away from home, the most important item for me to pack, is an ipod full of radio shows. Back then, when it all started, it was audio cassettes and I had to sit and record the shows as they aired. My favourites way back in the 1980's were Radioactive plus The Random Jottings of Hinge & Bracket. Thanks to other obsessive collectors, I have all these on CDs now.

This photo just shows a hint of the drawers I have stacked with CDs. And thanks to the wonders of technology, I can download them all from the BBC's webpage and onto my computer. And what do I listen to now? Well, my favourites are Party, News Quiz, Giles Wemmbley Hogg & Think the Unthinkable. Plus I've branched out into listening to plays written by the likes of Agatha Christie, Alan Ayckbourn & Simon Brett as well as the vintage Paul Temple thrillers.

To me, this is normal behaviour but I have to admit, I don't know anyone else who keeps the same hoard under their bed.

Until tomorrow

Rest assured you are not the only one who listens to CDs falling asleep. DS2 cannot sleep without his headphones on.

Cool hope your week goes well. I have a lot of CDs and DVDs from pictures to artwork I been trying to see what is on there and what to toss out. Some I just kept one thing on a CD and it was my artwork that I had to go to print. I just transfered it to my external hard drive and throw away the CD/DVD with just one artwork. Since it can't be overwritten for other projects. I guess it just depends on how much space is on the disc. Now it bit smaller but know it'll probably grow to more CD and DVDs lol.

Chas loves talking books - taking them in the car to listen to is a favourite thing of his.
Whatever floats your boat is my thought - we must get together soon. If we do the annual we have someone who wants to join us.

Hugs, Neet xxx
